After a fourteen-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease, Marie Parker Ethridge died at her home in New Bern, NC, on Thursday, September 27, 2012.
She was a native of Lucedale, Mississippi, and was the eldest of five daughters of R.O. and Minnie Parker. She was a member of Oriental First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Rev. Murray Ethridge; two sons, Mark Ethridge and wife, Pat, of Virginia Beach, Va. and David Ethridge and wife, Jeanine, of New Bern; four grandchildren, Stephanie Ethridge and Michael Ethridge both of Virginia Beach, Va. and Hannah Ethridge and Rebekah Ethridge both of New Bern; and two sisters, Inez Beech of Lucedale, MS and Ann McGraw of Mobile, Ala.
She will be honored and remembered at a memorial service at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30, at Oriental First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Harper officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Oriental Cemetery.
