Laurence "Larry" Joseph Ford

Sgt. Major Laurence J. “Larry” Ford USMC-Retired, 80, of Arapahoe died Monday, November 26, 2012, at home.

He served his country 30 years and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Following his military service he served as a magistrate in Pamlico County and as mayor of Arapahoe.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Murray Ford; three daughters, Lindy Lou Marshall and husband, Mike, of Garner, Bonnie May and husband, Chip, of New Bern, and Susan Ford Shaw and husband, Jay, of New Bern; son, Laurence J. Ford II and wife, Gayle, of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren, Lee Marshall and wife, Brittany, of Angier, Will Marshall of Garner, and McKenzie May of New Bern; many loved nieces and nephews; and two brothers-in-law, Tommy Murray and wife, Judy and Clinton Murray, all of Arapahoe.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Scott officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Greenleaf Memorial Park with military honors.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

He loved God, his family, and his country.
