On Tuesday, November 27, Elbert Hugh Lee, Sr. went home for a glorious reunion with his friends, parents and his beloved daughter, Susie.
Elbert was born on March 21, 1929 at Dawson Creek a small community in Pamlico County. Later, Elbert and is father moved to Oriental and started Oriental Service Center, while still farming in the Dawson Creek area. They later started A.H. Lee & Sons Farm, Inc.
Elbert was a member and deacon of Bethany Christian Church in Arapahoe. He was an active member of Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge in Oriental. He later was a member of the Scottish Rite and Sudan Shrine. Before his sickness he was an active member of the Pamlico County Shrine Club and the Sudan Mourners. He also served on the Pamlico County Farm Service Agency.
Elbert was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Lula Lee and his daughter, Suzanne Mercer.
Elbert is survived by his loving wife, Louise of 65 years; two sons, Elbert, Jr. and wife, Carol, of Oriental and Tim and wife, Debra, of Arapahoe; son-in-law, Robbie Mercer of Alliance; six grandchildren, Justin Lee, Jr. and wife, Christen, of Oriental, Ashley Goswick and husband, Daniel, of New Bern, Amber Simpson and husband, Michael, of Arapahoe, Sabrina Holton of Arapahoe, Lauren Mercer and Jena Mercer, both of Alliance; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Hill and husband, Van, of Reelsboro; and Betsy Lee of Oriental.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 30th at Bethany Christian Church with the Rev. Merritt Watson officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Lee Family Cemetery.
