Larry David Buckley, Ph.D.

Larry David Buckley, Ph.D., 75, of New Bern born on June 27, 1937 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away on January 31, 2013, after a lengthy illness.

He is survived by his wife, P. Gail Phillips Buckley; two sons, Jeffrey Scott Buckley and wife, Susan of Silver Spring, Maryland and Stephen Neal Buckley and wife, Brenda, of Rockville, Maryland; four grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie Nicole Buckley of Chicago, Illinois, Danielle Buckley Kapetanovic of South Riding, Virginia, Bradley Ian Buckley of Rockville, Maryland, and Katherine Lynn Buckley of Rockville, Maryland; and one great-grandson, Joseph Stephen Khairallah.

He graduated from the University of Maryland and George Washington University where he received his Master’s and Ph.D. He retired from Bell Atlantic, was past treasurer of the Y.M.C.A., New Bern, taught at both Craven Community College and Mt. Olive College and was an avid sailor. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 2nd, in the chapel at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bryan Huffman officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 1423 S. Glenburnie Rd., New Bern, NC 28562.
