Steve Taylor Dixon, 82, of Grantsboro died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Graham & Olive Harris Dixon, his wife, Helen Carawan Dixon, a brother, Ray Thomas Dixon and a sister, Nina D. Pagano.
He was farmer, an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also a charter member of Pamlico County Rescue Squad and Grantsboro-Silverhill VFD as well as a member of Neuse River Council of Government for many years and a member for over 30 years of Bay River Soil & Water Conservation.
He is survived by his son, William “Red Bug” T. Dixon; two daughters, Joyce D. Ray and Peggy D. Padrick; one sister, Sallie D. Bennett; sister-in-law, Iris Keel Dixon; four grandchildren, Danielle Harris, Charmon Sadler, Steven Nyberg and Brittany Nyberg; and three great-grandchildren, Kendall Harris, Jason Bond II, and Kendra Harris.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 18, at Grantsboro cemetery with the Rev. Dale Clark officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday afternoon at Bryant Funeral Home and other times at the home, 431 Hwy 306 N. Grantsboro.
In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Pamlico County Hospice, 11146 NC Hwy 55, Grantsboro, NC 28529.
