Colon Lee Powers, Jr.

Colon Lee Powers, Jr., 84 of the South Creek Community died Saturday, August 31, 2013, at home.

Mr. Powers was a U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Norfolk City Fire Department. He was a member of Virginia Beach Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Colon Sr. and Ethel Kight Powers; his brother, James “Jake” Powers; and his sister, Ruth Powers Whealton.

He is survived by his wife, Mavis Daniels Powers; and half-sister, Chalie Powers Garrison of Texas.

A graveside service with military honors will be held 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, at Daniels Family Cemetery on Muddy Creek Rd, Aurora.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to United Hospice of Coastal Carolina, 810 Kennedy Dr. New Bern, NC 28560.
