Ione Norman Best

Ione N. Best, 89, of Minnesott Beach, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at home.



Ms. Ione was a member of Arapahoe Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member of the women’s auxiliary. She helped with the Girl Scouts and was a den mother with the Cub Scouts. She was a dedicated Carolina Tarheels fan.



She was an exceptional mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family as well as many others that thought of her as a mother or grandmother. Her family will forever cherish her memories and always remember the many good meals she prepared for them.



She is preceded in death by her husband, James Rollins Best and a son, Gene Rollins Best.



She is survived by five sons, Bryant Norman and wife, Bonnie, of Bedford, Va., Jay Clark of Raleigh, James Howard Best and wife, Mary, of Alliance, Dwight “Buddy” Best and wife, Linda, of Arapahoe and John “Roger” Best of Arapahoe; brother, Bert Norman of Arapahoe; sister, Janice “Belle” Gaskill and husband, Wayne, of Ashville; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.



Her funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2nd at Arapahoe FWB Church with the Rev. Gary Bryan officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Greenleaf Memorial Park.



The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday night at Bryant Funeral Home.
