George W. Hodges

George W. Hodges, 86, of Alliance died Thursday, January 23, 2014, at home.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Dixon Hodges.

He retired on March 19, 1982 after 33 years of service as A/C Overhaul & Repair Foreman at Naval Aviation Depot, Cherry Point. He was a 56-year member of Bayboro Masonic Lodge #331 and was a raised Master Mason. He served in the U.S. Navy & Reserves, N.C. National Guard, U.S. Army & the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Alliance United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his sister, Betty Bullock of Whitakers, NC; two daughters, Harriett Rowe and Patti Chance both of Alliance; one son, Brad Hodges of Merritt; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

His memorial service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Penny Dollar Farmer officiating. Inurnment will be in Alliance United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
