Memorial services for Mrs. Marie Dawson Brace will be held Monday, June 30, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Alliance United Methodist Church, in Alliance, North Carolina, with Reverend Penny Dollar Farmer officiating. Burial will be at Alliance United Methodist Church Cemetery in Alliance, North Carolina, with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home and Bryant Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Marie Dawson Brace, 95, of Meridian, Mississippi passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Bedford Care Center, Marion, Mississippi.

Mrs. Marie Brace was a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College, with a degree in Home Economics and Science. She was a Home Agent for the University of North Carolina and a retired elementary school teacher, of twenty-three years, from Central Road School in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Mrs. Brace retired with her husband, Fred Brace, Sr., to Arapahoe, North Carolina, where they volunteered with Christian Aid Center of Alliance, were faithful members of Alliance UMC, and enjoyed an active life on the Neuse River with many friends and family. In 2003, Mrs. Brace moved to Meridian, Mississippi to live with her daughter, Ann Brace.

Survivors include her four children, Fred Brace, Jr. (Betty) of Portland, Oregon, Richard Brace (Judy) of Glendale, California, Ann Brace of Meridian, Mississippi and David Brace of Glendale, California; grandchildren, Brenda Marks (Michael) of Silverton, Oregon, Nancy Traynor (Phillip) of Santa Clarita, California and Eric Brace (Sally) of Sydney Australia, Dawn Gray(Scott) of Meridian, Mississippi, Lee Bernhard, III of Mountain View, California; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Aiden Traynor, Liam Brace, Scott, Taylor and Madelyn Gray and Leroy Alejandro Bernhard.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Fred Brace, Sr.; her parents, Frank and Lola Dawson; her sister, Frances Taylor, her brothers, Jack, Glenn, Frank, Ray and Patt Dawson and granddaughter, Holly Ann Bernhard.
