Sue Holton Whitford, 68, of Grantsboro passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at home.
She was a member of Amity Christian Church and also attended New Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church. She was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She worked with J.C. Penney before being a stay at home mother for her children. After her children were grown, she worked with the Pamlico County Register of Deeds office for 20 years serving the county as the Registrar for 10 years. She was active in the N.C.A.R.D. (North Carolina Association of Register of Deeds).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billie & Nina Holton and a sister, Sherrie Kay Drerup.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Whitford; one son, Gil Brinson and wife, Alison, of Beards Creek; one daughter, Becky Brinson O’Neal of Beards Creek; two brothers, Johnnie Holton and wife, Gladys, of Reelsboro and Billy Stephen Holton of New Bern; and two grandchildren, Cason and Marshall Brinson.
Her funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26 at Amity Christian Church with the Rev. Jesse Crisp and the Rev. Lynn Maxwell officiating. Interment will follow immediately in New Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Bryant Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
