Joan Marjorie Ruffhead Stewart

Joan Ruffhead Stewart, 88, of New Bern passed away Friday, September 12, 2014, at home.

She was a member of Village Chapel Presbyterian Church as well as the Eastern Star and Amaranth. She was the co-owner and co-founder of Neuse Forest Upholstery.

She is survived by her husband, of 69 years, Charles J. Stewart; three sons, Charles Roderick Stewart and Billy Stewart, both of New Bern and Corby Stewart of Fayetteville; two daughters, Gloria Walker of New Bern and Bonnie Adams of Newport; two sisters, Jean Smith and Judith Sibley; eight grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 15th at Village Chapel Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Norm Evans officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Greenleaf Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 to 12:30 Monday at the church.
