Leona Muriel Walker Daniels

Muriel Walker Daniels passed away at Sentara Careplex after a short illness on Thursday September 25, 2014.

God sent a butterfly down to carry our Mom to heaven on its wings. Muriel said the first people she wanted to see was her mother that she lost at age 12, then to see her granddaughter, Kristie that passed away at the age of 13. Mom had a plan and died on Kristie’s birthday.

Mom was born July 3, 1915 in the backwoods of Edward, NC. Her mother was Charlotte Reed Walker, father was Frank Stevenson Walker.

She was married to Morris A. Daniels for 61 years and leaves behind three children, Karen Keast (Jerry) of Hampton, Sharon Daniels of Great Bridge, Morris Daniels (Susan) of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Mike Johnson, Laurie Baker, Linda Goodson, Joshua Daniels and Jessica Daniels; great-grandchildren, Michele Humphries, Austin Johnson, Laurissa Baker, Ryan Baker, Rachel Johnson, Nathan Nightengale.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3-5 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton, VA. A funeral service will be held at Bryant Funeral Home in Alliance, NC at 11:00 on Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Interment will follow in Star Cemetery.
