Earl Taft Bender, Jr.

Earl T. Bender Jr., 69, of Galax, Va., formerly of New Bern, N.C., passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was a graduate of Upper Iowa Unversity with a degree in Business Administration. He retired from DoD at the Naval Aviation Depot, Cherry Point, NC after 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bender of Galax, Va.; his daughters, Michelle Bender Adams of Lake Wylie, S.C. and Angela Bender Gray of Gastonia, N.C.; sister, Ellen Bender Melton; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 8th, 2014 in celebration of his life on Crowders Mountain.
