Winford "Wimpy" Belangia

Winford “Wimpy” Errol Belangia, 71, of Arapahoe passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at home.

He was a member of Arapahoe Free Will Baptist Church. He owned and operated Belangia’s Supermarket since 1973 and helped start the Arapahoe V.F.D. He was a die-hard Harley Davidson rider and a charter member of the H.O.G. Club. He enjoyed fishing and being on the water and was a Nascar fan.

He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Elmo Belangia, Sr. and his son, Derek.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice Belangia; his mother, Lela Belangia of Arapahoe; son, Robert Belaniga and wife, Lisa, of Arapahoe; brother, Elmo “Bud” Belangia and wife, Pat, of Arapahoe; sister, Barbara Javaras of Chicago; three grandchildren, Craig Belangia and wife, Breanna, of Arapahoe, Ruark “Ru” Belangia and Amanda Hancock, both of Riverview, Fla; one great-grandchild, Kyla Belangia of Arapahoe; nieces, Cindy Conder and husband, Steve, of Louisville, KY and Dr. Kristin Javaras of Cambridge, MA; and his buddies, Ajax, Binkie and Molly.

His memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 1st at Arapahoe Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Cindy Midyette, Penny Dollar Farmer and Gary Bryan officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Pamlico County Hospice, 11146 Hwy 55 E, Grantsboro, NC 28529 or one’s favorite charity.
