Jean Lois Ahkao

Jean Lois AhKao, 82, of Oriental passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Carolina East Medical Center.

She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Oriental. She retired from the Chatham Public School System in New York as the Health & Dental Hygiene Teacher. Jean served as the past president of the New York State Dental Health Association. She was a graduate of the College of St. Rose with a masters degree in political science.

A loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister and grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dick AhKao; two sons, James Monahan of Spencertown, New York and Robert Monahan of Rhinebeck, New York; two sisters, Gail Scott of Arizona and Dorothea Masten of Kinderhook, New York; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Her memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jeremiah Day officiating.

The family will receive friends at her vigil to be held at 7 p.m., Friday, March 20th at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
