Charles Colbert Harrell, Jr.

Rev. Charles Colbert Harrell Jr., 58, of New Bern, was a very loving, caring man. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 6, 2015.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Rev. Rebecca “Becky” Harrell and his best friend/son, Charles “Chase” Wesleigh Harrell, of the home; brother, John Harrell and wife, Crystal; two sisters, Dorothy Laughinghouse and Kathy Williams, all residing in New Bern; on his wife’s side, numerous nieces and nephews; on his side, two nephews, Joseph Sr. and Hank Jr.; five nieces, Jennipher, Patricia, Joanna, Amber and Alyssa; four great-nephews, Joseph “Joe Jr.”, Justin, RJ and Camden; great niece, Ryleigh; his Uncle Luther and Aunt Fannie Blackburn of Lincolnton, GA; and goddaughter, Heather Vietz of New Bern.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Colbert Harrell Sr. and Olalene Blackburn Harrell.

Rev. Charles Harrell Jr. served the Lord for many years, beginning with outreach ministry in 1984, and earning his credentials in 2003. He was currently ministering the Grantsboro Church of God. His favorite saying behind the pulpit was, “I love to preach more than I love to breath.” He was known for his fun loving personality and was a self-proclaimed Jack of all trades. Charles was married to Becky, his “Old Lady” for 33 years. The love they had for each other was inspirational and timeless. Chase was his pride and joy and the beat of his heart. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to all and will forever be loved and missed. We’ll see you soon!

His funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Williams officiating. Interment will follow immediately in New Bern Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
