Gary Paul Caton

Gary Paul Caton, 78, of Reelsboro passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015.

He Served in the U.S. Air Force and worked as a civilian at Cherry Point. He opened and operated Carolina Rod & Gun Shop in Reelsboro, co-owned and operated C & W Gunsmith in Reelsboro, managed Pamlico Marine on Hwy 70 East in New Bern, managed East 70 Sport Shop, and co-founded, owned and operated East 70 Pawn in New Bern and Gateway Pawn in Jacksonville with son-in-law, Drew Preston.

Gary was a member of Broad Creek Christian Church and the Master’s Four Quartet. He enjoyed golfing, shooting, fishing and hunting. Over the recent years Gary found something he enjoyed even more than his own hobbies and that was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, church activities, dance recitals, award ceremonies and other various events.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Josephine Caton.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mollie Stallings Caton; daughters, Rhonda Caton Beckert and husband, Mark, Terri Caton Hinson and husband, Dave, all of New Bern, and Donna Caton Hughes and husband, Rusty, of Dallas, TX; son-in-law, Drew Preston of Reelsboro; brother, Woody Caton of Reelsboro; seven grandchildren, Kaitlyn Preston, Grace Preston, Trent Hinson, Alex Hinson and Blake Hinson, all of New Bern, Alanna Hill and Sean Hughes, both of Dallas, TX. He also leaves behind many dear friends but is reunited with others….

His funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 24th at Broad Creek Christian Church with the Rev. Mike Roach and the Rev. Chuck Holton officiating. Interment will be at Greenleaf Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel at 2:00 p.m., Saturday.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday evening at Bryant Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested making a memorial contribution to one’s favorite charity.
