Emmett Lee Koonce, 86, of Cove City, went to be with the Lord on December 6, 2015.
He was a lifelong resident of Cove City. He was born on August 4, 1929 to the late Alfred and Pearl Koonce.
In his early years he spent his time building houses, farming, and raising his family. He retired from Ayden Golf & Country Club after 30 years of serving as a greens keeper. After retiring, he enjoyed his puppies (Timmy, Buddy and Spike) and gardening, but his greatest joy was his family. He loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play baseball and enjoyed the moments he spent teaching them about the things he was passionate about.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Avery Koonce and son, Tony Lee Koonce.
He is survived by his son, Roger Curtis Koonce and wife, Diane, of Cove City; daughter-in-law, Sheila Broadway Koonce of Cove City; grandchildren, Alaina Nicole Stallings and husband, James, of Greensboro, Joshua Lee Koonce and wife, Kimberly, of Cove City, and Adam Thomas Koonce and wife, Emily, of Cove City; great-grandchildren, Tynleigh Grace, Jacob Lee, and soon to arrive, Aubrey Elizabeth.
