Hubert "Beau" Emery Bremer

Hubert Emery “Beau” Bremer, 84, of New Bern passed away Monday, January 11, 2016, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

Born on May 2, 1931 in Raleigh, NC to Alfred & Mary Bremer, he soon became known to all as Beau. He attended N.C. State University before joining the military and serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He married the love of his life, Ruth Ellen Adams, in 1954. He retired from the NC Forestry Service after almost 30 years of service.

Beau faithfully attended Faith Free Will Baptist Church. An avid outdoorsmen, he loved to hunt, canoe and swim and was an excellent marksman. His BBQ chicken was legendary, as was his pepper relish. Beau showed the patience of Job when teaching his daughter how to solve math.

He is survived by his bride of over 61 years, Ruth Ellen Bremer; five children, Mary B. Dawson (Mike) of New Bern, Charles A. Bremer (Jennifer) of Ayden, Emery L. Bremer (Kim) of Sherrills Ford, Judie B. Beck (Kevin) of New Bern and Yvette B. French (Anthony) of New Bern; brothers, Alfred H. Bremer (Lynette) of Grifton and Dr. C. Christopher Bremer (Barbara) of Greenville; eight grandchildren, Jason Dawson (Emily), Nicholas Dawson, Rebecca Gibson (Jonathan), Christopher Bremer (Emily), Blake Bremer, Joshua Beck (Katie), Andrew Beck and Isabella-Summer French; and five great-grandchildren, Alek & Kaytlyn Dawson, Charlotte & Beau Beck and Charlie Bremer.

His funeral will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, January 16th at Spring Garden Baptist Church with Pastor Dwayne Boyd officiating. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church and at other times at 501 Two Lakes Trail, New Bern.
