Panagiotis "Peter" Stasinopoulos

Panagiotis “Peter” Stasinopoulos passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving wife and children at the age of 68, on January 19th, 2016, his 40th wedding anniversary.

Peter was born in Vounaria, Greece to Dionysios and Fotini Stasinopoulos. He moved to the United States in 1970, where he met his beautiful wife, Judith VanDyke. Together they had four children and eight grandchildren, all of who loving referred to him as “Popie”.

He is survived by his wife, Judy and four children; son, Dionice Stasinopoulos of New Bern with wife, Toni Taglieri; son, Robert Cope of New Bern and his son Christopher; daughter, Loreen Aiken of New Bern with husband, Scott Aiken and their children, Dr. Nicki Renee Downes & husband, Scott Downes, Eleni and Alex; daughter, Mary Borneman of New Bern and her children Savannah, Gracey Roe, Matthew and Sophia. He also leaves behinds a brother, three sisters and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Peter’s personality was larger than life. He enjoyed good friends and great food, but mostly he loved and valued family.

In celebration of Peter’s life we invite family and friends to a memorial service at St. Paul Catholic Church at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 23rd. Officiated by Father William J. Upah. Inurnment to follow immediately in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family receive friends after the service.
