Rev. Austin Graham Lane

August 20, 1921 — September 2, 2016

Rev. Austin Graham Lane, 95, of Ernul, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016, at home.

He served in the U.S. Army, receiving the Purple Heart. He was a farmer and ordained Free Will Baptist Minister for over 65 years. He served numerous churches and held numerous offices in the Free Will Baptist Convention and local conference. He was also an Ethic Coordinator for Home Missions serving the LAO Evangelical Church & Hispanic Community.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Retha Lane; son, Samuel Graham Lane of Ernul; daughters, Barbara Lane Boyd of Chapel Hill, Carolyn Davis and Valerie Lane Powers, both of Greenville; sister, Mrs. Essie Mae Whitford of Ernul; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

His funeral will be held 11: a.m., Wednesday, September 7th at Trent Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. David Hansley officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Pinetree Cemetery, Cayton.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at Bryant Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to one’s favorite charity or cause.
