Robert Ray Sanders

Robert “Bob” Ray Sanders, 67, of Merritt passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a member of Bayboro Lodge #331 and Past President of the Pamlico County Shrine Club. Bob was a former County Commissioner and owned and operated Charlie’s Restaurant and the F/V Carly Ann. He retired from Weyherhaeuser after 35 years of service. Bob loved his family dearly and loved the outdoors.

He is survived by three sons, Jeffrey D. Sanders (Alexis Ireland) of Hobucken, Jordan Sanders (Brittany Harris) of Florence, and Stacy Sanders of Macon, Ga; daughter, Jennifer Spain (Fred Williford) of Florence; three sisters, Dot Baker of Vanceboro, Nettie Greggory of Florence and Debbie Wayne of Reelsboro; five grandchildren, Alyson Sanders, Justin Sanders, Kendall Spain, Kara Spain, and Kailyn Sanders; and four step-grandchildren, Sidney Williford, Shelby Williford, Cassidy Ireland and Addilyn Haines.

His funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15th at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Grady Burroughs officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Concord Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday night at the funeral home and at other times at the home of his daughter, 234 Point of View Dr., Merritt.
