Larry Wilkinson Peele

Larry Wilkinson Peele, 80, of New Bern passed away Thursday, October 20, 2016, at home.

He attended Antioch FWB Church for many years and later became a member of St. Delights OFWB Church. While there he served as a deacon, a trustee, and a member of the choir. He also served on various other committees. He later became a member of Reelsboro Christian Church.

Larry served with the National Guard and first pursued a career in the auto parts industry. He later worked for the Craven County Sheriff’s Department retiring as a Lieutenant after 18-1/2 years of service. He always had a song in his heart and loved to sing gospel and country music. After retiring he enjoyed fishing and gardening and was proud of maintaining a beautiful yard. Above all, Larry’s true life’s work was for God.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Diane Buck Peele; daughters, Wendy Karam and Lori Meads (John), all of New Bern; he also raised, Wendy Kay Turk (Clyde Roberts, Jr.) of New Bern; James Kevin Ammons (Connie) and Daniel Bryan Ammons, all of New Bern; and grandchildren, Kelsie Bryant McBride (Brian) and soon to be, Lincoln, William & Lola Karam, Catelyn Griffin (Dakota), Alyssa & Mikey “Bubba” Ammons, Bryce Roberts, John Meads IV (Polly), and Jessica and Eric Meads.

His memorial service will be held Monday, October 24th at 7 p.m. at Reelsboro Christian Church with Dr. Robert Cayton and the Rev. Timothy Webber officiating.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the church.
