Sara Jane Norman Hardy

Sara Jane Norman Hardy, 82, of New Bern, formerly of Oriental, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016.

She was a member of Oriental United Methodist Church and the Dorcas Circle. She was very active in the community and volunteered with many various community activities throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Dee Hardy Sr., son, Melvin “Mel” Hardy, Sr. and sister, Elsie Lupton.

She is survived by her son, Walter Hardy Jr. of New Bern; daughter, Nancy Hardy Hart of Oriental; brothers, Bruce Norman of Salter Path, Brantley Norman of Oriental and Gary Norman of New Bern; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 28th at Oriental United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Moseley officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Oriental Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the church.
