Nellie Dixon Phipps

October 14, 1933 — April 15, 2017

Nellie Irene Dixon Phipps, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

She was born October 14, 1933 in Pitt County and lived out her life in Pamlico County. She lived to serve others-whether it was family, friends, or strangers. She was a member of Broad Creek Christian Church and retiree of First Citizens Bank.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Phipps Tyndall (husband, Willie); son, David Bryan Phipps (wife, Liz); five grandsons, Ryan Tyndall (wife, April), Joseph Avery (wife, Tabey), Cory Tyndall, Shane Tyndall and Eli Phipps; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Tyndall, Abel Avery and James Tyndall.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Joseph Bryan Phipps; parents, Harold and Eunice Dixon; sisters, Bertha Nassef and Alice Peterson; brothers, Harold Junior Dixon and J.B. Dixon.

Officiating over the services will be Rev. Riley Green and Dr. Randy Spaugh. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 19th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home with graveside services on Thursday, April 20th at 11 a.m. at Sandhill Cemetery in Reelsboro.

The family will receive friends other times at the home of Willie and Brenda Tyndall, 13631 NC Hwy 55, Bayboro.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Broad Creek Christian Church, 45 Olympia Rd., New Bern, NC 28560.
