In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 8, 2017, surrounded by family, Glenda Bland Whealton departed this earth to be with the Lord and loved ones who had gone before her. Glenda’s time on this earth was spent working hard to provide for her family, singing, cooking, gardening, spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and above all, witnessing for the Lord.
She was survived by four daughters, Rhonda Breed-Dexter (Tad) of Reelsboro, Pat Voliva (Jesse) of Mesic, Tammy Lowery (Buck) of Arapahoe, and Lavonia Bland (Clint) of New Bern; ten grandchildren, Tommy Williams II (Kala) of the home, Emily Breed, Tina Voliva (Richard), Little Jesse Voliva, Haleigh Murray, Amber Lowery, Patrick Shaw, Justin Fisher, Travis Fisher (Jessica), and Preston Shaffield; five great-grandchildren, Aiden and Gabe Williams, Eric Brantley, Atlas Lowery, and Riley Fisher; one sister, Verna Quidley of New Bern; one brother, Coy Bland Jr. of Bridgeton, and her puppy, Angel.
She was preceded in death by parents, Coy and Maggie Bland of Oriental, and husbands, Russell Breed, Buddy Starling, and her last love, Gerald Whealton.
She was a member of the Wave of Hope Church of God of Prophecy, New Bern. She hoped for all her loved ones to be ready to meet her in heaven one day.
