Julia Boyd Peterson, 88, of Arapahoe, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2017.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sutton and Bertie Boyd; her husband, James (Sobbie) Peterson; a brother, Robert Boyd; and her daughter, Donna Thomson.
Surviving are her daughters, Cyndy Sprinkle of Virginia and Vanessa King of Wilmington; her sisters, Sylvia Norman and Becky Tingin; brother, Jeff Boyd; son-in-law, Don Thomson; grandchildren, Angela Mosley (James), Trevor Sprinkle (Sarah), Amanda Slaughter (Matthew), Allen King, Jim Thomson (Dawn), Bruce Thomson, and Rob Thomson; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Lane, Emma, Cole, Marco, Luca, Nico, Lorenzo, J.R., Peter and Trace; and special friends, Pat and Gene Stilley.
“Miss Julia” was born on January 28, 1929, and lived most of her life in Arapahoe. She worked for many years at Belangia’s Grocery where she became a fixture in the community she loved so much. She was an extremely active member of Bethany Christian Church where she served as Elder, attended Bible study, and held numerous offices in the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was an active member of the Arapahoe Area Retirement Club and the Pamlico Heritage Center. “Miss Julia” loved to travel with her girls and was always ready for an adventure.
A memorial service will be held at Bethany Christian Church in Arapahoe on Saturday, September 23rd at 2 p.m. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.
