Alice Johnson Packard (81), original resident of New Bern, NC, died July 30, 2021 after an extended illness. Alice was born in New Bern, NC on March 2, 1940; to Dr. Charles B. and Alice (Weed) Johnson.

Alice married Dr. Ronald L. Packard of Williamsburg, MA, in New Bern, NC on May 30, 1964, after graduating from Peace College in Raleigh, NC in 1962. She raised her family in New England, having lived in Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and New Hampshire until her retirement in 2000, when they returned to New Bern.

Alice is survived by her husband, Dr Ronald L Packard, Maj. US Army Retired (1984), currently residing in New Bern, NC, her sister Gail Banks, also residing in New Bern, NC, and her two sons and four grandchildren.

Her sister Gail and their family, husband Jim and son Charles live in New Bern, NC. Ronald Jr., with his family, wife Sandra and their twin boys Jason (25), and Justin (25) currently reside in Burlington, CT; and Russell C Packard with his family, wife Andrea and their son Cameron (18), and daughter Samantha (16), currently reside in Lawrence, KS.

Alice will be remembered for her love of family, competitiveness around the bridge table, her passion for the Boston Red Sox, and the joy that her grandchildren brought her. She loved to entertain and cook. Dinners were family events in her home, and she took great pride and celebration in those family gatherings. Family, friends, visitors and travelers alike from afar or nearby knew there was always a home cooked meal of great southern quality and proportions waiting for them on arrival.

Alice and her husband Ron will be interned at the Village Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg, MA at a later date.
