Allen Joel Olson, Sr.

Allen Joel Olson, Sr., 83, of Apex, formerly of Merritt, passed away Monday, May 29, 2023, at WakeMed.

He served in the U.S. Navy, graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from North Dakota State University, and retired from IBM after 30+ years of service. He was also a member of the Florence-Whortonsville Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Cecilia Hall Olson of Minot, ND; his son, Allen Joel Olson, Jr. of Merritt; and brothers, Gerald Olson and Rolland Olson, both of Minot, ND.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maxine Hill Olson of Apex; daughters, Patricia Olson Osmers of Asheville, NC and Catherine Olson Scala of Apex; grandsons, Logan Osmers and Lucas Osmers of Asheville; granddaughter, Cadence Grace Scala of Apex; and sister, Linde Olson Wentling of Schaumburg, IL.

His funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1st at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel, Alliance, NC. Interment with military honors will follow immediately in Mayo Family Cemetery, Mesic, NC.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
