Anita Marie Fischer

Anita M. Fischer passed away quietly at her home in Minnesott Beach, NC surrounded by family on Saturday, June 11, 2022.

Born in Queens, NY on January 21, 1923, she was married for more than 50 years to her late husband, Joseph J. Fischer.

She is survived by her three children, James (Vickie), of New Bern, NC, Jerome (Jenny) of Minnesott Beach, NC, and Debra Dowdell (Donald) of Bohemia, NY. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a resident of Hicksville, NY for more than 50 years before moving to Bohemia, NY for several more years. When it became apparent that she needed more comprehensive care, she moved to the home of her son, Jerome, in 2020.

Mrs. Fischer taught third grade at St. Edwards the Confessor Catholic School in Syosset, NY and several other schools for more than 35 years. She loved life and family and had 99 years of a life well lived.

Mrs. Fischer will be sorely missed by family and friends. The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday, June 25 ^th from 2 to 4 p.m. at her son’s home (Jerome), 290 Country Club Dr. Minnesott Beach, NC 28510.

Her memorial service will be held in Long Island at a later date.
