Arlene Haddock Willis, 79, of New Bern passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, at Pruitt Health-Neuse Campus.

Arlene liked to travel; however, she loved her community of New Bern, and always came back home. She retired from Carolina Telephone as a supervisor. She was a member of Amity Christian Church. Arlene happily dedicated her time and efforts to her family. Her caring nature and warm heart made her a mother figure to many as she fostered several children throughout her life. She found joy and happiness in working in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lillian Haddock; husband, Ashton Willis; brothers, Richard A. Haddock, Jr. and Samuel Haddock; and a great granddaughter.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are sons, Wesley Broughton (Terri) and Leslie Broughton; daughter, Misty Coute; sisters, Angela Gaskins (Jimmy), Princess Lipscomb (Doug), and Victoria Andrews (Rodney); four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

A funeral service to honor Arlene’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 5th at Amity Christian Church. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
