Belva Gibbs Radcliff, 90, of Bayboro, N.C., passed peacefully at home on Jan 22, 2023.
She was born in Bayboro on August 18, 1932. Belva was the daughter of Lawrence and Ola Gibbs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Radcliff; son, Clen Gibbs Radcliff; sons-in-law, Bruce Toler and Grady Burroughs, Sr.
Belva is survived by her daughters, Mabel Burroughs, Lana Nobles (Carl), Alyce Toler, her son, Roy Earl Radcliff, Jr. (Ellen), and daughter-in-law, Cindy Radcliff. She also had 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, which called her Granny.
Belva was married to Roy Radcliff on October 2, 1947. They made their home in Bayboro and raised their five children on their family farm. They then opened the Radcliff Marina which was also known as Belva’s Boat Ramp in later years. She enjoyed greeting her fisherman and duck hunters as they came in. She also enjoyed waiting for their return to see their catch. The fisherman and hunters became her family friends from many places. They would often share their catch with her right up until her passing. In her last years she couldn’t greet them in person but would watch from her chair as they would come and go.
Belva was a member of Bayboro Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She was involved in the WMU for many years and drove the van for many of their adventures.
Her funeral will be held 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 25 th at Bayboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Fitzgerald officiating. Private interment in Sandhill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
