Betty Murray Arnold

Betty Murray Arnold, 83, of Stonewall, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at her daughter’s home.

She is a member of Trent Free Will Baptist Church where she served as a past pianist, choir member and Sunday school teacher.

Betty graduated from Pamlico County High School in 1956. She was the bookkeeper for her husband’s company, Ray Arnold Logging Co., for 21 years. She then worked 9 years for Coplan Smith in New Bern. Her last career was with Charlie’s Restaurant, where she cooked for 24 years. She was a member of the P.C. Moose Lodge from 1971-2004.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray & Bernice Murray; husband, Freeman Ray Arnold; grandson, Rocky Powell; and great grandson, Ethan Hill.

She is survived by her children, Angela (Jasper) Powell, Dennis (Kristie) Arnold, and Mark (Beth) Arnold; brother, Marvin “Buddy” (Becky) Murray; sister, Verdie (Phillip) Lee; seven grandchildren, Tonya Powell, Ray Powell, Austin Arnold, Amanda Parker, Christal Arnold, Kathrine Arnold and Johnathon Arnold; 14 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 4 ^th at Bryant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Griffin and the Rev. Cindy Midyette officiating.  Interment will follow immediately in Trent FWB Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times at her home or the homes of her children.
