Brantley Paul Norman, Sr., 80, of Oriental, went home to be with the Lord, July 18, 2018. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who was well loved by so many.
He moved to Oriental with his parents at the age of six. He loved Oriental very much, serving on the town board and serving as Police Commissioner for years. He was a dedicated Chief and member of the Oriental Fire Department for many, many years as well. He and the love of his life for 60 years, owned and operated numerous business throughout the years with 40 successful years at Brantley’s Village Restaurant.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia, daughters, Sandra Wing and husband, Marty, and Paula Ireland and husband, Guy; son, Brantley Paul Norman, Jr.; his dear grandchildren, Mandy Mizelle (Derek), Jenny Satsatin (Romeo), Shannon Wing, Daniela Harrison (John Michael), Allie Gerlache, Mark Ross Norman, Evan Ireland (Megan), Aimee Love; and great-grandchildren, Logan, Anna Grace, Miles, Colin, Madyson Faith, Madyson Elaine and Blake.
His funeral service will be held at Oriental Free Will Baptist Church, 600 Ragan Rd., on Friday, July 20 th at 11 a.m. Interment will follow immediately in Paul Cemetery, Arapahoe.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggested memorial contributions be made to Oriental FWB Church, PO Box 298, Oriental, NC 28571 or Southeast Pamlico Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 429, Oriental, NC 28571.
