Brenda Watson Lewis

Brenda Watson Lewis, 80, of New Bern, NC, beloved wife, mother, Granny, and friend passed away at home on August 3, 2021. Brenda was born on Oct 9, 1940 in Lowland, NC, the daughter of Alton and Nettie Watson. In 1959 she married her high school sweetheart Bobby Lewis, raised four children, and they spent the next sixty years together at their home in Lowland.

Brenda was a lifelong member of the Lowland Church of Christ. Additionally, she was active in the schools as well as many groups in her community such as the Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, 4H, the Dancing Grannies, and most recently the 55+ Club. Brenda was always willing to lend a helping hand and words cannot express how much she was deeply loved and respected by her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Jack and Allen Watson. She is survived by her husband Bobby, brother Wayne (Ann) Watson of Melbourne, FL, sister-in-law Angie Watson Molloy of Quaker Hill, CT, children Cathy (Paul) Lupton of Lowland, Nancy (Mark) Ross of Lowland, Blair (Nancy) Lewis of Matthews, NC, and Charlie (Karen) Lewis of Apex, NC. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 7, at 2pm at the Lowland Church of Christ, and the service will also be streamed online via the Lowland Church of Christ Facebook page. Visitation with the family will be held 1 hour ahead of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider donations to the Goose Creek Island Community Center, Goose Creek Island Volunteer Fire Department, or a charity of your choice in her honor.
