Brenda Evette Jivers Yett was born June 19, 1960, to Vertie and Roosevelt Jivers in West Columbia SC. Brenda was the 3 rd of 9 children. She was the granddaughter of the late Esmond and Sally Manigault and Amy and Frank Jivers.
Brenda graduated from Brookland Cayce High School in Cayce SC. She was a member of the Marching Bearcat Band. She went on to attend Clemson University and received her degree in Architectural Engineering.
She decided to move to Charlotte and was hired in November 1987 by the City of Charlotte in the Engineering & Property Mgmt. Dept. After 24 years of service Brenda decided to retire but returned later and worked 2.5 years as Aviation Administrative Officer. Brenda was instrumental in the design of the Overlook area at Charlotte Douglas Int’l.
Brenda was all about family. She adored her parents who preceded her in death and cared very deeply for her siblings, nieces and nephews. She was a faithful friend to those she loved. In 2002 Brenda married Michael Yett and this past March celebrated 20 yrs of marriage. She loved going to the beach and crocheting, making hats for cancer patients. As one of her drs said “she was a Unique and Amazing woman”. She was a woman of Faith and as a young adult Brenda surrendered her life to Christ and never wavered in her relationship with him during her illness.
Brenda gained her wings on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at her home in New Bern NC surrounded by family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Michael Yett; two brothers; Anthony (Christine) Jivers and Roosevelt Jivers; four sisters; Shirley Jivers, Vanessa Jivers, Teresa Jivers, and Amy Jivers; one aunt, Joann Tillmon; three brothers-in-law; Timothy Yett, Billy Yett, and Douglas Yett; one sister-in-law, Brenda Foster; one god-son, Jeremy Franklin Jivers; three longtime friends and sisters of love; Carol Mckenith, Jamie Murray and Susan Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 30 th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Douglas Pearsall officiating. The service will be livestreamed from her obituary page at danielssadlerfunerals.com.
