It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Cathy Mross on September 2nd, 2023, in Bridgeton, NC. She was born on July 13th, 1969, in New Bern, NC. Cathy was a loving mother to her only daughter, Hanna Mross, and always a fun, loyal and free-spirited friend to many.

Cathy worked in the food industry throughout her younger years before she became a mother at age thirty. She worked at the Kentucky Fried Chicken with friends who became family. She also worked at the Parkway, which is no longer open, as a cook for many years.

Cathy enjoyed lots of things. She spent the majority of her free time looking after her two-year-old miniature chihuahua, Rosie, who her friends and family knew was her fur baby and spent her last moments by her side. Some other things Cathy found joy in were music, gardening, coloring, and painting.

Cathy will always be remembered for her extremely large and kind heart. She was the type of person to give you the shirt off her back, always give someone a helping hand, and was quick to put a roof over a friend’s head if needed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Rosa Tyndall; and her fur baby, Rosie.

She is survived by her daughter, Hanna Mross (Shawn); husband, Roger Mross; her aunt, Jane Whitford; brother, Brent Whitford; nephew, Nehemiah Goins, nieces, Skylar Whitford and Christy Duffy; and cousins, Joe Rhem and Trinity Lee.

All of Cathy’s friends and family would agree that she was certainly one of a kind, and to know her was to love her. She will be missed dearly by all.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 23rd at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joyce Swimm officiating.
