Cathey Carpenter Adolphson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at CarolinaEast Medical Center surrounded by family. She was 71.
Born on October 26, 1953, in Samson, Alabama, Cathey was a woman of boundless love. She proudly served her country in the United States Army, enlisting in 1974 and dedicating eight years of her life to service. After her time in the military, Cathey made the choice she held most dear – devoting herself fully to her family and raising her children with unwavering care, compassion, and guidance.
A member of Campbell’s Creek Methodist Church, her faith was both a foundation and a beacon. Those who knew her best will remember her for her warmth, her gentleness, and her love of life’s simple, beautiful things – especially her time spent tending to her flowers and plants, which brought her peace and joy. While living in Florida, Cathey deepened this passion by taking a course at a local community college, where she earned her Master Gardener certificate – something she was incredibly proud of.
Cathey’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Steve Adolphson; her sons, Christopher Stephen Adolphson, and Michael Justin Adolphson (Ashley); her brother, Joe Carpenter; and her three cherished grandchildren, Laura, Sophia, and Aaron, who were the lights of her life.
Service information is pending at this time and will be updated as soon as possible.
