Celia Johnson Ellis

Celia Johnson Ellis, of Aurora, North Carolina passed from her earthly life to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Celia was born on August 29, 1942 the only daughter of Opal (Tetterton) Johnson and Decator Johnson. Celia is survived by her husband of 56 years, Thomas Ellis of Aurora, NC; brother Walter (Lynne) Johnson; numerous cousins, including Hix Browne of Aurora, NC and Shirley Eubanks (Jerry) of New Bern, NC; a step-daughter, Pamela of Smithfield, NC; a granddaughter, Lori Rayman (Dustin); and 3 great grandsons of Franklinton NC.

Celia is predeceased by her parents, Opal and Decator; brother, James; and her first husband, Joseph Sykes.

Celia spent her working days as a legal secretary and enjoyed traveling the United States with her husband, Tom. Celia was an active member of her South Creek Baptist Church, serving as secretary/treasurer and devoted much of her time and compassion to the needs of the congregation.

Celia will always be remembered for her caring, kind and giving heart, and her loss will be felt deeply by her family and the community of friends and neighbors she leaves behind. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Mark and Tammy Campbell.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 12:30-2:00 pm with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel, located at 52 Bryant St. Alliance, NC. Private interment will be in Warren Chapel Cemetery.
