Charles M. Hardison, 74, of Grantsboro passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at home.
As a young man, Charles entered the College of Ministry at Mount Olive College in 1975 and he spent most of his adult life ministering to others. He served as pastor of the Croatan FWB Church, Trent FWB church, Faith Christian Church, and associate pastor at Reece’s Chapel Baptist Church. Charles retired from Pamlico County Local Government with combined years of service as a deputy, jailer/dispatcher, and water department specialist. Most days you could find Charles at Bojangles with his morning crew sharing the daily news and fellowshipping. He was known for his jovial sense of humor and witty proses. He loved swapping tales, riding motorcycles, and tinkering in his shop. He had a special place in his heart for animals, especially cats and squirrels. Charles loved the Lord and was always willing to lend helping hands, but mostly, he believed in ministering or praying for individuals wherever the need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Evelyn Hardison; brothers Alvin and Albert Hardison.
Those left to cherish his memory, his wife of 44 years, Joy Simpson Hardison; son, Eric W. Hardison (Lynn); brother, Ronald Hardison; sisters-in-law, Linda Powell (Walter) and Gerri Thompson (Tommy); and many dear friends and extended family.
Charles’ funeral will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 2:00pm Bryant Funeral Home & Crematory in Alliance with Pastor Ray Lewis officiating. Interment will follow immediately in Paul Cemetery in Silverhill.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives from 1:00pm to 2:00pm at Bryant Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
