Claire “Michelle” Noevere, 64, of Merritt, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023, at UNC Medical Center-Chapel Hill.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Hall and mother, Miriam Hall.

Michelle leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 36 years, Eric Noevere; stepfather, Jim Gray; sons, August Noevere (Melody) and Alex Noevere (Taylor Hucks); brother, Mike Hall (Carole); sister, Mindy Nobles; and three grandchildren; Eliza, Isaac, and Irina Noevere.

Michelle was born in Sacramento CA. Her dad was a Radar Operator in the USAF on Constellation aircraft and land installations. Her mom took care of the three kids during frequent moves including spending time abroad in bases in Morrocco. The family ended up in Longview Texas, where her dad retired. Michelle studied Secretarial Science and worked in this field for a few years before becoming overcome by wanderlust and then traveling through Central America. She eventually sailed to the Caribbean and stopped in the British Virgin Islands.

On the tiny island of Virgin Gorda she met her husband Eric. They owned a restaurant, Chez Michelle, for many years along with other business interests including a charter boat company. During this time along came August and then Alex.

When the children were reaching school age it was decided that the family would relocate to Oriental, NC. Michelle started her new career in the office of Garland Fulcher Seafood and then transitioned to the President’s Office at Pamlico Community College several years later. Michelle moved on to various roles in the President’s Office where she worked for many years. She greatly enjoyed working there and gave it her all. The family eventually settled in the Florence community not far away, which has been home for twenty-three years.

She worked tirelessly to raise her sons, who performed exceptionally in school going on to complete graduate engineering degrees and achieve successful careers. Both sons married fine women, with three beautiful grandchildren from August and Melody becoming the joy of her life.

Aside from her job and family she loved music and played the flute in the Community Band and Pamlico Flutes. She was involved in the Ol’ Front Porch Music Festival. Michelle for many years was with the Girls on the Run organization, she herself was a marathoner having completed four total marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2009. She also loved gardening and spent many hours landscaping and maintaining her garden.

After battling her cancer for a year with surgery, chemotherapy, then a stem cell transplant that went badly awry, she finally called out from her job two days before passing away. She had incredible courage and fought hard and bravely to the end.

Her memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 18th at Daniels-Sadler Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends and relatives one hour prior (1:00 p.m.) to the service at the funeral home.
