Clyde Franklin Cowell

Clyde Franklin Cowell, 94, of Alliance, passed away at home on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

Clyde enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served for 3 years and was awarded a purple heart. He retired after 23 years as Maintenance Supervisor with The Pamlico County School System. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gun collecting and spending time with family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Torrence Cowell and Lillie Davenport Cowell; brothers, T.B. Cowell and Ellis Cowell; and sister, Lillie Mae Cowell Casey.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hazel Tyndall Cowell; son, Dwayne Cowell (Tina); daughter, Wanda Cowell Spruill (David); granddaughters, Angie Spruill Hudson and Shelley Spruill Banks; great grandchildren, Gaven, Tanner, Breanna, Tucker and Jace; his sister, Becky Cowell Dixon; and many loved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Daniels Sadler Funeral Home on Monday, September 14th from 6 to 7 p.m.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
