Cynthia Kay Carpenter

Cynthia Kay Gehrke Carpenter, 71, passed away on August 10, 2025, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.

Cindy had a special fondness for Halloween, delighting friends and neighbors with her elaborate outdoor decorations each year. She shared her talents and love of performing as a past member of the Pelican Players Theater in Oriental, appearing in several of their productions. Cynthia also enjoyed fishing, finding peace and happiness on the water.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Rebecca Gehrke. her brother, Ronnie Gehrke, and stepson, David Carpenter.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Stephen Carpenter; her son, Kyle Hendrickson and wife, Yessica; stepson, Brett Carpenter; sister, Lynn Allard, and cherished granddaughter, Layla Hendrickson.

Cindy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
