Daniel "Danny" Andrew Miller

Daniel “Danny” Andrew Miller, 77, of Merritt passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Grantsbrook Nursing & Rehab Center.

Known to many from his 25-year career with law enforcement, Danny began as a jailer then became a deputy before becoming an officer with marine fisheries. He later returned to the Pamlico County Sheriff’s office as a deputy before becoming Sheriff in 1990. He retired in 2002. After retirement he ran a landscaping business for a couple of years.

Some of his favorite past-times included fishing, horseback riding, hunting, and watching round track racing. He also enjoyed reminiscing with most anyone, but he loved spending time with his family, especially his grand and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Rowena Miller and sister, Carolyn Ruth Miller.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory is wife of nearly 44 years, Becky Miller; daughter, Sherry Riggs (Will); sons, Bryan Miller and Neal Miller (Brittany); brother, Jerry Miller (Cathy); six granddaughters, Summer Arnett (Zak), Macy Payne (Lee), Logann Miller, Taylor Nethercutt (Dillon), Khloe Miller and Kayleigh Miller; two grandsons, Austin Miller and Andrew Miller; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service to honor Danny’s life will be held at Word Fellowship Church on Saturday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Owen Lupton and Joey Roberts officiating. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
