David Buck, a beloved son, brother, stepfather, friend, and follower of Jesus, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after a long and personal journey followed by a brief illness toward finding peace.
He was born on June 4, 1963, in Craven County and lived most of his life in Pamlico County. A true country boy, he loved the outdoors, the woods, farming, and hunting with his friends. Some of his happiest moments were spent working on the farm, being with his family and close friends, and spending time with his stepdaughter, Jessica.
He was a Christian who loved Jesus and held tightly to his faith. Strong on the outside and stubborn in his own way, he lived each day the best way he knew how. Like most of us, he experienced ups and downs, made mistakes, and carried regrets, but through it all, he continued to humble himself in his faith and trust that God was in heaven. He believed that one day he would join Him in that greater place of joy, where there is no pain or sorrow.
He will be remembered by those who counted on him to show up, those who waited for his calls when he could make them, and all who knew his heart. His presence, stories, stubborn spirit, and love for the people around him will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his father, Charles W. Buck; mother, Glenda Buck, both of New Bern; his sister, Trisha Howarth and her husband, Donald; his stepdaughter, Jessica Malone Jarman and her husband, Chris; and his step-grandson, Grayson. He also leaves behind extended family members and close friends who loved him dearly.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, September 5th, at 10 am, at Sand Hill Cemetery in Reelsboro. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember a man who lived his life in his own way, loved deeply, and is now at peace in the presence of Jesus.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Pamlico Christian Academy. P.O. Box 68 | Grantsboro, NC 28529 or online at https://pamlicochristianacademy.org/.
