Daylin Cross Hancock, 23, of Florence NC passed away November 10, 2022 at home.

“Cross” as everyone knew him, was a man of faith. He attended Motion Church, where he met his friend and mentor Pastor Albert “AB” Almore. Cross enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeler riding, spending time with his sisters and brothers, and hanging out with friends. His love for the water led him to become a commercial fisherman. It was always a bittersweet moment for him whenever he was due to leave out on the boat because, though he loved working and being out on the water; however, he also knew he would miss his family. He loved his family deeply and they loved him the same. So much, that there was never a time they didn’t say “I love you” ending a phone call or visiting each other. Cross always enjoyed attending ball games with his little loves Emma and Blake Spain. He was their biggest and loudest fan. “Uncle Coss” also enjoyed spending time with his “Ne Ne” (niece) Scarlett.

He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Earl Hancock, paternal grandparents, Peggy and Frank Deberry, paternal grandfather, William Louis Hancock, maternal grandfathers, James Edward Phillips Sr. and Robert Jefferson Brown.

He is survived by his mother, Sandra Phillips Williams of Florence, NC; stepfather, Paul Williams of Reelsboro, NC; “Soul Mate”, Amber Caraway Spain and children, Emma and Blake Spain (that he loved as his own) of Florence, NC; maternal grandmother, Evelyn “Jean” Brown of Watkinsville, GA; sisters, Asheton Phillips Davis (Matt) of Oriental, NC, Hailey Hancock Fulcher (Chaz) of Oriental, NC, Creedance Williams of Florence, NC,  and Erica Hancock of New Bern, NC; brothers, Crue Williams of Oriental, NC, and Clayton Hancock of New Port, NC; uncles, James Phillips, Jr. (Martha) of Pink Hill, NC, Timothy Phillips of Watkinsville, GA, Christopher Phillips (Amanda) of Stephens, GA, Jimmy Hancock (Elizabeth) of Oriental, NC, and Bill Hancock (Kathryn) of Ernul, NC; aunts, Karen Phillips Bowers of New Bern, NC and Jane Hancock Smith of New Bern, NC; and numerous cousins and family-friends to count!
