Deborah Jean (Swiger) Sheets, 66

Former Montana Mines resident, Deborah “Debbie” Jean Sheets of Oriental, NC died surrounded by her family on June 1, 2018.

She was born November 29, 1951 to the late Paul Howard, and his wife, Dorothy May Swiger (Layman) of Montana Mines, WV.  She grew up the youngest of 5 children and met the love of her life, Randy Sheets in the 7 th grade at East Park School.  Debbie was a 1969 graduate of East Fairmont High School and attended Fairmont State College.  The family lived in Annapolis, MD for 21 years, where Debbie worked as a Bakery Manager for Graul’s Markets.  The couple retired to NC to spend time with her treasured Aunt & Uncle, Phyllis Jean and Carlos Monday of Arapahoe.  Debbie spent her time gardening and reading.  When she wasn’t “working in her flowers”, she loved attending WVU football games where she and Randy hosted tailgating events.

Debbie will be greatly missed by childhood sweetheart and husband of nearly 48 years; her children, Carla Jean Sheets, Randy Allen II of Baltimore, MD and his wife Jennifer; their three children, Maddison, Randy III and Samantha.  In addition to her mother, she is also survived by her brother, Paul Swiger, Jr. of Fairmont, WV and his wife, Sandra; two sisters, Judy Manning and her husband, Jimmy, of Jacksonville, FL and Karen Leonard and her husband, Guy, of Weston, WV; mother and father-in-law, Nova and Ronnie Henderson of Fairview; brother-in-law’s, Rick Sheets and wife, Karen, of Elkins and Bill Sheets and wife, Michelle, of Fairmont; and sister-in-law, Cindy Sheets of Montana Mines; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Bradley Gene Swiger of Nancy, KY and brother-in-law, Ronald Sheets of Montana Mines.

At her request, no services will be held.  A celebration of her life will be scheduled for a later time.  Please memorialize Debbie and her love of gardening by planting a flower in her honor.
