Dennis Michael Butterfield

Dennis Butterfield, age 78, resident of New Bern, died on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday November 22, 2021 at 11:00am Bryant Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Pastors Ray Gaskins and McDonal Dennis will be officiating.

Dennis Michael Butterfield was born on December 20, 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was born to Raymond and Anita (Palom) Butterfield. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as an aircraft mechanic for over 20 years. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8). He later met and married Elaine Gaskins, they were blessed with over 30 years of marriage.

Dennis was known to be a great cook, often cooking meals for friends, neighbors and events at church. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years. But he was happiest at home. He could often be found working around the house. He even remodeled his entire house on his own. It was obvious that Dennis was a true handy man.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.

He is survived by, his wife, Elaine Butterfield; children: Charles, Keith and Denise Butterfield; four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
