Don Martin Sanders

Don Martin Sanders, 73, of Florence, N.C., passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Carolina East Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones. He fought a courageous battle with cancer, but God called him home.

Don was born and raised in Pamlico County. He loved living in Eastern North Carolina and raised his family here. He was a loyal employee of PCS and retired after 40+ years of service. His favorite past times included hunting, fishing, building things, and reading. He frequently had a book in his hand. He loved to go driving in his truck and visit with friends. His best furry friend was always along for the ride. Don was a beloved son, husband, father, and grandfather who dedicated his life to nurturing his family. He loved all of his children deeply and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Most of all he loved his wife. He was the rock of the family and always provided support and love no matter the time or day. He was loved immensely and will be remembered and missed by his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Sanders; and his mother, Florence Martin Sanders.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Sheryl Harris Sanders; his five children, Julie McCulley, Tonya Taylor, Don Sanders, Jr. Jason Sanders, and Brian Sanders; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Sanders; and his beloved dog, Annie.

A private graveside memorial service will be held at Concord Church Cemetery, in Florence, N.C.
