Edward Thomas Cahoon, Sr.

Mr. Edward Thomas “Tommy” Cahoon Sr., 85, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at Carolina East Medical Center. Born on September 22, 1940, Tommy was a strong and faithful man whose life was defined by his love for his family, his friends, and the many people whose lives he touched along the way.

Tommy was a faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church on Sand Hill Road in New Bern. His faith was an important part of who he was, and he carried that faith with him throughout his life

Tommy retired from Cherry Point after many years of dedicated service. In his retirement, he found joy in the things that meant the most to him. His greatest passion was his family, and he treasured the time spent with his children and loved ones. He also had a deep appreciation for his many friends and the friendships he built throughout his lifetime.

Tommy had a special love for cars and took great pride in owning and caring for his many vehicles. He enjoyed keeping busy, whether he was mowing lawns and cemeteries, working with his cars, or simply taking care of the things around him. He loved to travel and make memories along the way. When he was relaxing at home, he could often be found enjoying one of his favorite westerns. These simple pleasures brought him happiness and gave those around him countless memories to cherish.

Tommy’s greatest legacy, however, will always be the love he gave to his family. He was a man who could be counted on, a man whose strength and faith provided comfort to those around him. His presence brought a sense of security and love that will remain with his family for generations to come.

He is survived by his children, Veronica Lynn “Vickie” Cahoon of Bridgeton; Edward Thomas “Tommy” Cahoon Jr. of Alliance; Terry McDonald Cahoon Sr. of Alliance; Kimberly Cahoon of New Bern; and Elvis Wayne Cahoon of New Bern; his siblings, Roger Cahoon of Kinston, Judy Crain of Archer, Florida, Joann Pierce of Newport, and Sherry Nowajewski of Ernul; along with numerous extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Zeffie Pearl Cahoon Ireland and Donald Wesley Cahoon.
